Beineke

The Beineke Foundation’s 2008 scholars program—Beineke Scholarship Program—has added two new scholarships and upped the purse per award from $32,000 to $34,000 per winner. Academically talented students seeking free money for graduate studies are encouraged to campaign for one of 22-$34,000 awards. Students must be nominated by officials at one of the participating institutions to be considered.

Criteria for Beineke Scholar applicants:

  • Students must be juniors at the time of application.
  • Applicants must have academically superior records and possess outstanding drive for both education and career goals.
  • Leadership skills are preferred.
  • While this is primarily a merit-based award, applicants must also document financial need.
  • Applicants must have plans to enroll in graduate or post-graduate degree programs within at least one year of graduation from a baccalaureate degree.
  • Students must be pursuing graduate study in the arts, humanities, or social science fields.

Awards are meted out as follows:

  • $4,000 disbursed immediately.
  • $30,000 disbursed incrementally to the graduate institution once the student has been admitted.

All Beineke Scholarship nominations must be received by March 1, 2008. Winners will be announced on or before May 1, 2008.
