$25,000 in Scholarships from the National Cattlemen’s Foundation and Fort Dodge Animal Health

Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarship

The National Cattlemen’s Foundation and the Fort Dodge Animal Health Center have announced a new scholarship program designed to support the education of veterinary and veterinary science students with particular specializations in the cattle industry.

The Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarship, as it has officially been named, will award 5-$5,000 scholarships for a grand total of $25,000 for its first year—2009-2010.

Prizes will be awarded like this:

• Two-$5,000 scholarships will go to undergraduate veterinary science students.
• Three-$5,000 scholarships will be awarded to veterinary school students whose specialties are Beef Production.

The program is intended to emphasize the cooperative efforts of both industries in maintaining productive farms and cattle resources. Program developers from both the Cattlemen’s Foundation and Fort Dodge Animal Health believe that the next decade in cattle production may be critical and require well-trained veterinarians with special interests in cattle.

The National Cattlemen’s Foundation has said it will post applications and more in-depth information sometime in the winter and interested applicants may begin submitting scholarship applications in February 2008. Winners will be announced next July, 2008 and funds will be made available for the 2000-2010 academic year.
