Bread Loaf and Rona Jaffe Pair to Offer Awards

The Bread Loaf Writers Conference at Middlebury College is one of the country’s most prestigious, as well as the oldest, writers’ conference. In an effort to buoy the talents and energy of young female authors, a new scholarship has been created. Sponsored by both Bread Loaf and the Rona Jaffe Foundation, the Middlebury College Bread Loaf-Rona Jaffe Foundation Scholarships are an exclusive opportunity to learn first-hand from some of the country’s most revered working writers.

Writers across the country vie for the chance to attend the Bread Loaf, their applications and writing samples chosen from among hundreds of applicants. The weekend offers provocative workshops and seminars led by literary celebrities.

Scholarship program requirements:

  • Preference will be given to writers outside the academic realm and those with demonstrated financial need and/or other challenges to overcome.
